Free online business days calculator
Business days are weekdays — Monday through Friday. This calculator counts how many fall between two dates, and also shows total calendar days and weekend days.
How to use
- Enter a start date and an end date.
- Use the quick presets for common ranges (next 30 days, year end).
- Read business days, calendar days, and weekend days.
- Press “Share with my numbers” to copy a link with your dates.
How business days are counted
The calculator loops through each calendar day from the start date up to (but not including) the end date. Each day is checked: if it falls on Monday through Friday it is counted as a business day; Saturday and Sunday are counted as weekend days. The sum of business days and weekend days always equals the total calendar days.
Worked example
From April 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025 (29 calendar days):
- Calendar days: 29
- Weekend days: 8 (four Saturdays, four Sundays — April has four full weekends in this span)
- Business days: 21
Notes
- Public holidays are not excluded. Subtract known holidays from the business days count manually.
- The end date is excluded from the count (same convention as Python’s
range()or Excel’sNETWORKDAYSwith an adjusted end). - For adding or subtracting a number of business days from a date, see the Add or Subtract Days Calculator.
