Worked examples

A 1,200 sq ft apartment in square meters

Notes

• Square vs. linear — doubling a length quadruples the area. A 20 × 20 ft room isn’t “twice” a 10 × 10 ft room, it’s four times the floor space.
• Acre ≠ square acre — “acre” is already a unit of area. “Square acre” isn’t a real unit; don’t let anyone sell you one.
• Conversion factors follow SI definitions and the international acre (4,046.8564 m²).
• The acre is defined exactly as 43,560 square feet.
• Results are rounded to 6 decimal places.
